One-day adventure in Tokyo

One-day adventure in Tokyo

May is the perfect season to immerse yourself in Japan's vibrant greenery. Tokyo is no exception, as you can reach the pale green forest within 2 hours from the city center via public transports. Mt. Mitake is a beloved hiking destination, even for school excursions on Tokyo’s outskirts, but its beauty of wilderness should not be underestimated.
This experience is truly enriching as you can combine a scenic hike with a visit to a shrine and savor a vegetarian shrine lunch near the peak of Mt. Mitake.

From central Tokyo—whether Tokyo Station or Shinjuku Station—take the Chuo Line and transfer to the Ome Line to reach Mitake Station or Musashi-Itsukaichi Station. From there, convenient bus services connect to the trailheads, and a cable car is available to take visitors closer to the summit. 01

Mt. Mitake boasts a variety of scenic trails, but one standout is the Rock Garden along the Yozawa River. This picturesque path is enveloped in lush greenery, offering a tranquil retreat into nature. Since bus services to and from Yozawa are more limited compared to the cable car, be sure to check the timetable in advance to plan your trip smoothly.<br />
